A Journey Through Healing History

A Journey Through Healing History: Year 9 at the ULB

Our Year 9 students stepped out of the classroom and into the fascinating world of medical history today with a visit to the Musée de la Pharmacie et des Plantes Médicinales at the Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB)!

From ancient herbal remedies to the precision of modern pharmacology, students explored the evolution of medicine. It was an eye-opening experience to see how the plants we study in biology have been transformed into life-saving treatments over centuries.

Highlights of the tour included:

Botanical Wonders: Discovering the chemistry behind powerful medicinal plants.

Apothecary Art: Seeing the beautiful, historic equipment used by pharmacists of the past.

Science in Context: Understanding how early observations led to the rigorous scientific methods we use in the lab today.

A huge thank you to the ULB curator for such an inspiring and educational morning. Our future doctors and researchers are definitely left with plenty of food for thought!
