Year 11 IGCSE Chemistry Practical Update!
Our Year 11 chemists have been working hard, putting their practical skills to the test this month in a full mock Paper 5 exam! This is a crucial step to prepare for their final practical assessment. What We Covered:
Temperature Change Investigation: We investigated the energy changes that occur when anhydrous lithium chloride is dissolved in varying volumes of water, focusing on accurate temperature measurement and recording.
Qualitative Analysis: Students honed their identification techniques by analysing two unknown solids. This involved using methods like the flame test to identify metal ions and testing the production and identification of gases.
Planning an Investigation: The final challenge was to design a detailed experiment to determine the solubility of magnesium sulfate accurately.
They've shown significant progress in their technique, observation, and analysis skills!
